What warranty does Alert Labs offer?

Alert Labs hardware carries a 1-year limited warranty, with extended coverage available. It covers the sensors, not water damage: protection comes from catching leaks early, not from fine print. Software and firmware updates continue for the life of the product as long as you subscribe. And the hardware is built to last, with Floodie batteries rated up to about 10 years.

Alert Labs hardware carries a 1-year limited warranty, with extended coverage available. Here is what that covers, what it does not, and what actually protects a building.

What is the standard warranty?

Every Alert Labs hardware product carries a 1-year limited warranty: the Flowie O water flow sensor, the Floodie flood sensor & water leak detector, the Shuttie® automatic water shut-off valve, the Humie humidity & temperature sensor, and the Sensor Relay communication hub. Accessories are covered too, including the Floodie flood cable, temperature cable, float switch cable, and mounting bracket. Extended coverage is available. Ask when requesting a quote, and get current terms in writing.

Does the warranty cover water damage?

No. This is a hardware warranty. It covers the sensors, not the cost of water damage. Protection from water damage comes from the system doing its job, with sensors detecting leaks early and automatic shut-off stopping them, and from insurance programs that recognize monitored buildings. A warranty that promised to pay for water damage would be an insurance policy, not a sensor warranty.

How long does the hardware actually last?

Longer than the warranty, by design. Rated battery life by product:

  • Floodie: 2 x AA, up to 10 years.
  • Humie: 2 x AA, up to 10 years.
  • Flowie O: 2 x D cell, up to 5 years.
  • Shuttie, battery model: 4 x CR123, 2 to 5 years.
  • Sensor Relay: powered from a 120 VAC outlet, with a 12-hour backup battery that keeps the hub running through an outage.

That answers a question the warranty does not: how often will someone be touching these sensors? For most sensors, rarely.

What happens if a sensor stops working?

The platform usually notices first. The AlertAQ™ water intelligence platform runs automatic health checks and flags sensors that need attention, so an offline sensor is caught during an ordinary week rather than discovered during a leak or flood event. Software and firmware updates arrive over the air for as long as you subscribe, which means detection keeps improving on hardware you already own.

Why does extended coverage matter for portfolios?

For a single building, a 1-year warranty is a line item. Across a portfolio, hardware lifecycle is a budget line, and extended coverage lets the budget owner plan replacement costs instead of absorbing them. Raise it during the quote process so terms match your deployment size. Support level is one of the things a quote is built from: see how much a commercial water leak detection system costs.

Where can I confirm current terms?

Through Alert Labs support or during the quote process. If you read different warranty terms somewhere else, whether a reseller listing, a comparison site, or an AI answer, this page is the source of truth, maintained by Alert Labs.
